Hello and welcome to my webpage. My name is Councillor Graeme Campbell and Iíve been one of the locally elected members, representing the good people of Strathaven, Stonehouse & rural Avondale (Ward-5 South Lanarkshire Council) since the Scottish local elections in May 2007.

At the heart of every community, is its people and therefore at the heart of Avondale is everyone living in Strathaven, Stonehouse, Glassford, Chapelton, Gilmourton, Sandford, Auldhouse and the hundreds of farms across our wards countryside.

I first stood for election in May 2007 with a vision to better represent this fantastic community in South Lanarkshire Council and deliver the projects that I see as a priority. In the 11 years following the 2007 local elections, Avondale will have received one brand new school building, fit of the 21st century each year; the last being Saint Patrickís, which is due to open in early 2018. The Avondale road network has improved massively with more than £20m of investment and this is set to continue in the future.

I however do not believe my job is done. With far too many young families struggling to afford a home in Strathaven, never mind the complete lack of social housing in the town; I stood for election again in 2017 to try and deliver a range of social & affordable homes in Strathaven, while the same time; try to deliver a common-sense approach to development in Stonehouse, which has the potential to deliver the investment the village needs, including more homes, shops, small businesses and even a secondary school.

Iíve always prided myself in being open, honest and responsive. As a result, I am probably one of the most visible and easy to contact councillors in Avondale, if not South Lanarkshire. Everything I work on (unless specific to an individual constituent) is done in the open and no matter if you agree with me or not, I publish all my public projects.

Iíve worked in the IT sector since 1996 and therefore it will be no surprise that I use technology and social media to engage. In fact, since 2010 I have not run an open surgery, instead making myself viable to all my constituents without the delays in waiting to attend a weekly or monthly local surgery. If you want to meet me face-to-face to discuss any council matter, you just need to contact me and I will arrange a meeting in any of the local council facilities across Avondale at a time that suits you.

I am proud to be a Scottish Conservative, the only political party in Scotland (in my opinion) that believes the best route to success is through hard work.No matter if you agree with my politics (or not), I will support any constituent who comes to me asking for assistance. I promised that I only get political around election time and therefore during my term as a councillor, I will put politics aside and work with anyone, from any party who supports the improvement of Avondale.
